Dangerous Neighbors
by Beth Kephart
Could any two sisters be more tightly bound together than the twins, Katherine and Anna? Yet love and fate intervene to tear them apart. Katherine's guilt and sense of betrayal leaves her longing for death, until a surprise encounter and another near catastrophe rescue her from a tragic end. Set against the magical kaleidoscope of the Philadelphia Centennial fair of 1876, National Book Award nominee Beth Kephart's book conjures the sweep and scope of a moment in history in which the glowing future of a nation is on display to the disillusioned gaze of a girl who has determined that she no longer has a future. The tale is a pulse by pulse portrait of a young heroine's crisis of faith and salvation in the face of unbearable loss.
Dangerous Neighbors hits shelves on August 24, 2010.

The Ivy
by Lauren Kunze
Freshman year at Harvard--glamorous parties, blossoming friendships, steamy romances, and scandalous secrets. Skip the campus tour and get right to the good stuff: classes are for scoping guys (and their Facebook profiles), not taking notes. The library is for study dates (the medieval history stacks get a lot of action), not studying. And success is a 4.0 GPA... plus getting into the most exclusive parties. How will Callie--a California girl with brains, beauty, and big dreams--and her three roommates survive?

Get admitted to The Ivy, the first book in a provocative new series about the world of the Ivy League.
The Ivy hits shelves on August 31, 2010.

Butterfly
by Sonya Hartnett
Plum Coyle is on the edge of adolescence. Her fourteenth birthday is approaching, when her old life and her old body will fall away, and she will become graceful, powerful, and at ease. The strength of the objects she stores in a briefcase under her bed —a crystal lamb, a yoyo, an antique watch, a coin —will make sure of it. Over the next couple of weeks, Plum’s life will change. Her beautiful neighbor Maureen will begin to show Plum how she might fly. The older brothers she adores will court catastrophe in worlds that she barely knows exist. And her friends, her worst enemies, will tease and test, smelling weakness. They will try to lead her on and take her down. BUTTERFLY is a gripping, disquieting, beautifully observed coming-of-age novel by an acclaimed author at the top of her form.
Butterfly hits shelves on August 10, 2010

The Thiteenth Chime (Sense of Truth #1) by Emma Michaels

No one knew of its existence until it was removed from the attic upstairs.

In a beautiful house that overlooks the sea, an antique clock has the power to change the course of their lives.

The power the clock resonates will not only force Destiny and ex-boyfriend David on a journey into the depths of one man's mind long dead, but into the mind of a man filled with hatred and bent on revenge.

With the only clues to the nature of the clock having disappeared into the sea, Destiny and David must retrace the steps the man had taken into the darkness, before they fall prey to the trap he had set in motion over half a century ago.

Hatred never dies.
(Emma is a book blogger turned author... how cool!!!)

Publisher: Omnific Publishing (July 27, 2010)

Lexi White finds herself at a crossroads. After putting everything on hold to care for her ailing father, it’s finally time for her to start living Lexi White finds herself at a crossroads. After putting everything on hold to care for her ailing father, it’s finally time for her to start living her life again. An exciting new job holds the promise of a fresh start, until she comes face to face with someone from her past who has always stopped her dead in her tracks, and who evidently still has the power to make her forget her own name. This time around, Lexi’s a grown woman who refuses to back away from her dreams, even if it requires working with her old high school crush. Side by side. Every day. Will he end up being her downfall or exactly what she needs?

Vincent doesn’t even remember Lexi from high school, but he begins to take notice when the fiery young woman is hired as his new assistant. Quickly, Lexi turns his world upside down and becomes an invaluable addition not only to his team, but to his life. Having learned a few hard lessons about trust in the past, Vincent is reluctant to let down his guard, especially when it appears that someone is out to sabotage his family’s advertising agency. Professionally, they are dynamite together, but when sparks fly between them personally, will Vincent let lies and jealousy ruin everything between them, or will he finally learn not only how to love, but ultimately trust…in advertising?

I was lucky enough to be an early reader for this fantastic novel and I cannot sing its praises enough. Victoria Michaels has brought us yet another wonderfully written novel that captivates us from the very beginning. As with her other novel, I could not put this one down and was completely captivated by the story of two people who reconnected after so many years and found themselves within each other. Their lives, which were seemingly different from the outside looking in, were beautifully woven together through fantastic writing and fast paced drama, revelations, and a cute little girl who will do anything she can to make her uncle happy.

There are so many things to love about this novel that I can’t begin to list them all, but the fact that the characters are so very well written is key to this novel. Their spit fire dialogue and interaction makes them come alive with every turn of the page. Vincent comes across as an arrogant, selfish man but Lexi will have none of it and gladly calls him it many times. Vincent is dating the supermodel Jade whom you find it easy to hate for many reasons because she is written so well. It is hard to read a novel if the characters are not believable, but Michaels definitely has this craft under her belt and some authors could take a few pointers from her!

Victoria Michaels definitely delivers with this novel which is full of cocky men who are put in their place, powerful women who know how to put him there and the realization that though people may look like they have it all together, sometimes it takes your other half finding you to realize that you definitely don’t!
