This book has been on my shelf for a while calling my name... and boy am I glad I listened! I fell in love with the cover of this one because it is so simple yet so intriguing that it makes you want to read it. Anastasia has done an amazing job with her debut novel and I am hoping and praying that she will write this as a series!! (hint, hint)

The fresh writing, believable characters, great plot, and mysterious power make this read one of my new favorites. I found myself having to remember that Phe and Zach are simply teenagers because they are old souls. I love that they are written like this because it was done well. You could believe that they were old souls because of their actions, experiences, and reactions to things. They were very well written and made the story what it is… GREAT. There were so many great things about this book but one of my favorites was the obsession Phe had with music! I got some great bands out of this book!! Here is a picture from my notebook…

There was drama all throughout this and it built on top of all of the little sub plots that left you wondering how it was all going to come together (I have a ton of questions all in my notebook this time and crazy scribbles beside themJ). I found myself laughing at some of the characters, being scared with others, and ready to kick butt with Zach and Phe! Overall, this was a very well written, intriguing novel that I did not want to put down (I bathed the kids with one hand and read with the other)! Harry and Twilight and Winners... OH MY!

First off... Have you seen the new trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows? AMAZING!


Secondly... tonight is a BIG night for those of use who love the Twilight series. I must preface this by saying I have been a fan of this series LONG before the movie hype. I feel in love with the books and passed them on to my family, friends, coworkers (whom have become equally as obsessed) and of course my students. Eclipse is my favorite book out of them all and I am so excited that it is opening

ON MY BIRTHDAY!!!

Pure coincidence I am sure... but thanks David Slade! So tonight I will be going with my mom, my sister, Michaela (one of my former students whom I love) and a bunch of other Twihards to see the triple feature of Twilight, New Moon and at midnight... ECLIPSE!!! Yeah!!

I just have to say....

We are looking for the most promising writers out there (that’s YOU). And then we want to showcase their work, so that all of the Internet can bask in their awesome writing might (and, you know, give them prizes).

HERE’S HOW IT GOES.

We want you to write your own short story, re-imagining of the Faustian Bargain. (For inspiration, check out Bedazzled, Simpsons “Tree House of Horrors IV,” and The Little Mermaid). It can be about anything you like (but let’s keep it PG-13, and under 3,000 words), and it’s open to everyone.

All you have to do is send your entry to dviergutz@gmail.com before January 31.
