The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith

Hardcover, 236 pages

Who would have guessed that four minutes could change everything?

Today should be one of the worst days of seventeen-year-old Hadley Sullivan's life. Having missed her flight, she's stuck at JFK airport and late to her father's second wedding, which is taking place in London and involves a soon-to-be stepmother Hadley's never even met. Then she meets the perfect boy in the airport's cramped waiting area. His name is Oliver, he's British, and he's sitting in her row.

A long night on the plane passes in the blink of an eye, and Hadley and Oliver lose track of each other in the airport chaos upon arrival. Can fate intervene to bring them together once more?

Quirks of timing play out in this romantic and cinematic novel about family connections, second chances, and first loves. Set over a twenty-four-hour-period, Hadley and Oliver's story will make you believe that true love finds you when you're least expecting it.

I absolutely loved Hadley and Oliver's story. Being a firm believer in the idea that everything happens for a reason, this book was right up my alley. This story was completely relatable to me too because I have missed my plane before and I must say that I was waaaaaaaaaaaaay more panicked that Hadley was. Granted, I was trying to get home to my husband and kids too so I am sure that was not helping my panic!

Hadley and Oliver meet when it seems that everything is going against her and take her on a 24 hour journey where she explores who she is, questions what she really believes and comes out a different person. Stories like this are ones that get us (as readers) thinking and the fact that this one takes course over a single day impacts the plot in ways that would not have been as effective if the story had been drawn out into a longer time span. To choose to write this story like this was amazing and I love that Jennifer did that.

This super quick read (at least for me) was just what I needed to remind me that everything happens for a reason. We may find love in a hopeless place (sorry... now you can sing the song in your head too! Or watch the video here!!) or find ourselves when we didn't even realize we were lost. Head out to the bookstore or Amazon and get this one! You won't regret it!!

Happy reading!!

As soon as I read your summary I immediately started Googling the book. With a description like that how could you not be intrigued? Everywhere I looked there were magnificent reviews and the praises kept coming in. Thank you for opening my eyes to potentially my new favorite YA book.
