Now Jess has a live-in bodyguard, whether she wants him or not. Except she does want him—and he wants her. Yet negotiating a future together will have to overcome a lot of roadblocks: babies, puppies, the entire, meddling Toleffson family—and a kidnapper.

This one could possibly be my favorite! I don’t know if it was Jess, Lars or Daisy… or even Jack who brought it all together for me, but this novel was great! Jess is trying to hide from her crazy mother–in-law in the sleepy town of Konigsburg, Texas all the while the Toleffson’s have other plans for her. Daisy (Lars’ two year old daughter) adds to the mix and proves her intelligence on many levels. I love the interaction of Daisy and Jack and can relate to that innate sense of curiosity because of my daughter.

Benjamin has done a great job of pulling Lars out of his slump and giving him a happy ending (after his psycho ex-wife tried to ruin him by pawing their daughter) with Jess and Jack. I love that there is such symmetry in all of the stories as well. We still know about the other characters and their lives, but only just enough that it doesn’t take over the main story. Benjamin also does a great job of setting up the next book for us by incorporating Erik just a little bit more and peaking our curiosity for him. I can’t wait until July when we get to see more of him and find out what else has been going on in Konigsburg, Texas!

Pete Toleffson just wants to get through his brother’s wedding and get back to his county attorney job in Des Moines. He never expected to be the engineer on a wedding train that’s derailing straight toward hell. Janie’s the kind of girl he’d like to get close to—but her self-induced role as “Miss Fix-It” is as infuriating as it is adorable.

If they can just fend off meddling parents, vindictive in-laws, spiteful ex-boyfriends, and a greyhound named Olive long enough to achieve matrimonial lift-off, maybe they can admit they’re head-over-heels in love.

Benjamin definitely didn’t disappoint with this one either! Pete came to Texas thinking that all he wanted to do was get back to his job that was (literally) making him sick and all Janie wanted was for Pete to step up and take on the role he was here to be… best man. Pete found out pretty quickly that he wasn’t going to be able to push Janie away and leave as quickly as he came.

Benjamin did a wonderful job

showing Janie as the strong, independent woman that she so desperately wanted to be and yet couldn’t get away from those who were weighing her down (namely her mom and loser-boyfriend type). I love Janie and her take charge attitude. She and Pete were trying to be the calm amidst a tornado and try to take care of each other at the same time… but they quickly found that they were both hurting each other by not telling the truth all along.

If you have ever been in, planned, or even watched the planning of a wedding you know that it is chaotic. Benjamin adds to that tenfold all while weaving the romance of Janie and Pete into the mix. I found myself laughing, teary eyed, angry and comforted throughout this book and can’t wait to see where Lars (the next hunky brother) takes us next. I only wish there were more Toleffson’s because there can only be so many more books! Guess I will just have to re-read!!

Now if Cal can only convince Docia to give love a chance, while fending off burglars, con men, jealous rivals, and the eccentric citizens of Konigsburg, maybe they can even make it to happily ever after!

Sometimes we need a break from the reading that we are doing and Meg Benjamin’s series has done just that for me! Venus is very well written, has a great plot (with mystery, drama, and hunky goodness) and kept me coming back for more. When I read my romance novels I find (sometimes) that I have to try to get over little things in order to really enjoy it (minor mistakes in plot, too much detail about the things we don’t really care about, etc.). That is not the case with this novel.

Docia and Cal are completely believable characters and I found myself rooting for them and going through the struggles they are going through. I cannot wait to see what happens next with all of these characters and can only guess what will happen when all of their relatives come to town. Cal, the vegetarian veterinarian, and Docia, the trust fund baby, definitely add spice to the little town of Konigsburg, Texas and I can only imagine what is to come!

As always... thanks to Kristi at The Story Siren for hosting this and keeping us inspired as to what comes out! I just realized that my blogoversary is in 4 days! I am so slack! I will be doing something fun just for that on that day so keep your eyes peeled! I have a ton of catching up to do with IMM but for today I am going to go with my romance novels that I have been reading and plan to read in between my YA stuff. I have them on my Kindle and LOVE reading them! My brother was reading through my titles today and said, "What are you reading?!" Haha... Keep in mind, these are NOT YA (but they are sooooooooooo good!!) Have a great week everyone!
